New Horizons Aberdare Open Day was a great success
New Horizons is a mental health service user led registered charity that believes recovery from the symptoms of mental and emotional distress is possible through the development of personal resources. New Horizons provide recovery based services throughout RCT in order to promote independence and increase people’s confidence.
Boyd Clack, writer for the top comedy show High Hopes stated:
“As someone who has experienced depression for the past 16 years, I am delighted to be the Patron of New Horizons.
The judgement of any society – at least any good society – is how they treat their weakest. And our society tries to wash its hands of people with mental health issues. However, at New Horizons, everyone is warmly welcomed no matter how unwell they could be feeling.”
New Horizons held its annual open day in its mental health resource centre in Aberdare town centre on Thursday 9th October from 11am – 6pm. The day gave you a chance to find out more about mental ill health and recovery as well as try some of the wide-ranging activities the resource centre offers to its members. Activities varied from making music to learning about computers, gardening through to healthy eating and may more in-between! Valleys radio broadcasted from the centre throughout the day.
