Recycling Advisers (Bridgend)
Salary: £8.50 per hour
Hours: working up to five days a week, up to 35 hours a week and anticipated for three months.
These positions are currently subject to award of contract from Bridgend County Borough Council.
Waste Watch is looking for up to six Recycling Advisers (RAs) to join its Community Engagement team from the end of January 2012 to engage with residents using the four Household Waste Amenity Centres (HWACs) on behalf of Bridgend County Borough Council. The four HWACs in Bridgend are located at Maesteg, Ogmore Vale, Brynmenyn and Tythegston.
Results from a waste compositional analysis of the HWACs have highlighted a large amount of recyclable material in the waste stream and a low recycling rate in some of the sites. The aim of this project is to increase reuse and recycling and decrease general (‘black bag’) waste.
RAs will be based at HWACs and will work alongside staff employed by the waste contractor May Gurney. RAs will engage with users of the HWACs in order to enable and encourage residents to fully utilise their kerbside or local recycling services and the reuse/recycling facilities at the HWAC. RAs will be line managed by a Recycling Support Officer based in Bridgend County Borough Council and will also have support from Waste Watch staff based in London.
This is a part time or full time position for an expected duration of three months from the end of January 2012, working up to five days a week including weekend work. Full training will be provided.
