| Obsession or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or (ODC) | Obsessions, like phobias, are irrational and uncontrollable. And they’re common; between 1 - 3 % of the population seek treatment for obsessions. Obsessions appear like recurring thoughts or ideas, which can be frightening or distressing. Usually they are accompanied by ritual behaviour; for example, someone obsessed with cleanliness may believe their hands are contaminated and wash their hands incessantly. |
