What are the causes of Mental Health?
There are many different factors that can have some influence in developing a mental illness.
Physical causes
Our individual genetic make up can make us more prone to mental health or there may be a family history of mental illness. A severe head injury, depression with mood swings or suicidal thoughts can also cause mental illness. When someone is experiencing mental illness, especially for the first time in their life they often feel alone and useless. They sometimes do not even recognise what is happening to them. This is a stressful time for the person who is ill. While friends and family are worried or even confused by what is happening to their loved one. The person who is ill may need to go in to hospital to receive the proper care, evaluation, diagnoses and treatment. The person in hospital may have different reactions to them being there. They may think there is nothing wrong with them and that they will never be well again. But with the correct medication and support things can improve. Anti depressants may be prescribed by your doctor. These can usually take about 2 to 3 weeks to build up in your system and 6 to 8 weeks to feel the full effect. Looking back through history there are many great musicians, artists, actors, actresses, author's, mathematicians etc. Who have also had mental illness and still achieved great things so can you to.
Environmental factors
Environmental factors like people living in poverty or being homeless, even being unemployed can cause stress. Which can lower a persons self worth.
Peace of mind
If you are coping with a bereavement divorce or some form of abuse. These things can influence your mental and emotional state of mind. But with the right support, you can recover and have a good quality of life. When people recover their out look on life is much more positive because their mood is lifted and distressing symptoms are often damped down. This can occur through the right type of medication and medical support.
